The decline of athens in Pseudo-Xenophon’s “Constitution of the Athenians”
Abstract
Constitution of the Athenians‖ wrote by Pseudo-Xenophon‘s shows some elements which explain the decline of Athens. The myth of self-sufficiency and superiority of this polis was a very hard price for itself, a mistake which would carries it to its defeat against Sparta and then its subsequent fall. This article written around the middle of The Peloponnesian War shows some clues about the tragic future of Athens.
