Abstract

There is no doubt that the transmission of psychoanalysis goes through the study of cases. However, the semiotic conditions of the clinic show that affirming the primacy of the case leads to an inevitable paradox. A case is not only a case, because it is not a question of exchanging one adjective for another so that a psychoanalytic clinic exists instead of a medical clinic. The case literature shows that it is not only a matter of terminology, but a matter of consistency of the situation.
