The «tendency» and «the tendentious» as practices of reading of the report of the Commission of Truth

Abstract

This paper is the result of the dialogues held within the study group on the Truth Commission within the research group «Pedagogy and Didactics of Law» of the Universidad Santo Tomás, in Tunja, Colombia. Its purpose is to offer a perspective on the conditions that must be met when socializing it in schools and colleges. It begins with a conceptual differentiation between tendentious attitudes and the tendencies of those who reject or support such socialization. After presenting some generalities about
the methodological framework, based on the hermeneutic paradigm to account for the meaning that both truth and veracity have in the document, and the implications
that the tendency and tendentiousness imply in this regard, four ideas are put forward in conclusion: the need to read the document in a plural perspective, the organization
of study groups in the institutions, the use of the report as an instrument (not the only one) to know our history, and the importance of the didactics of history in its approach.

Keywords:

Tendency reading, tendentious reading, Truth Commission, truth, truthfulness.
