Abstract

Teaching second languages to adults has gradually been taking on an importance worthy of special attention in Argentina. Focusing the aim on this increasingly large age group, called “passive”, although still intellectually very active, has been our task during the last three years. Our motivation has been new linguistic and methodological searches intended to favour learning, create a good level of satisfaction to stimulate our public and improve their quality of life. We are included in a National Program offered at universities to stimulate continuing education. Our proposal consists of language workshops (Italian and English in this case) for this age group, people from 55 years old and up, who, as mentioned, is increasingly growing and for whom we still lack methodology for second language acquisition.
