Abstract

In this article, we propose to identify the terms and expressions from different sports disciplines used in the headlines of articles belonging to areas such as politics, economy, society, culture, etc. For this purpose, we started with a corpus of 1,500 headlines from two Mexican newspapers of national circulation, one with general information: El Universal and the other specialized in the area of economics: El Financiero. With this research we contribute to the studies focused on sports discourse, as well as on the impact that sports terms and expressions have on other journalistic discourses.
